Artificial turf doesn't need mowing, but it still needs cleaning. Leaf litter, moss, algae, pet waste and general grime build up over time, flattening the pile and holding onto odours. We rinse, treat and groom synthetic grass back to looking — and smelling — like new.
Overview
Synthetic turf is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. Dust and pollen settle into the pile, moss and algae take hold in shaded or damp corners, and pet urine and droppings leave bacteria behind that plain hosing won't shift — that's what causes the smell. Left long enough, debris compacts the fibres flat and the colour dulls.
Synthetic lawns have become common across newer Sunshine Coast estates — Kawana, Birtinya, Sippy Downs and similar developments with smaller blocks — where it's installed for low upkeep but then gets forgotten entirely once it's down. We also do a lot of work at childcare centres and sports facilities, where hygiene and odour control matter more than a typical backyard.

We use enzyme-based treatments that break down the bacteria causing pet odour, rather than just masking it — and everything used is safe for kids and pets back on the turf as soon as it's dry. Nothing abrasive that could damage the fibres or backing.
Most residential yards need a clean every 6–12 months; shaded turf or areas used heavily by pets often benefit from more frequent visits. Childcare centres and sports facilities with constant foot traffic usually sit on a more frequent scheduled clean, both for hygiene and to keep the pile from matting down in high-use zones.
