Jetty & Pontoon Cleaning
Waterline growth, algae and slime make a jetty or pontoon slippery and tired-looking fast. We clean timber, aluminium and composite decking back to a safe, presentable finish — without damaging the surface.
Overview
Constant water exposure means jetties and pontoons grow algae, slime and mould faster than almost anything else on a property — and once it's established, it's a genuine slip hazard as well as an eyesore. The waterline band in particular builds up a biofilm that stays slippery even when it looks dry, which is exactly the zone people are stepping on and off a boat.
We see the most demand for this around the Sunshine Coast's canal estates — Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, Mooloolaba's canal suburbs of Minyama and Buddina — plus river-frontage properties around Noosa and the Maroochy River at Bli Bli. Owners who rent their property out short-term are especially conscious of this one: a slippery, algae-stained jetty is one of the fastest ways to get a bad review or, worse, an actual injury claim.
We match the pressure and method to the decking material — timber and composite get a gentler approach than aluminium or concrete — so growth comes off without damaging fibres, coatings or fixings. We also handle boat ramps and shared community pontoons for body corporates and councils, not just private jetties.

How we do it
Our process
Assess
Check the decking material, its condition, and access — from land or by boat.
Pre-treat
Algae and slime treated to lift growth safely before washing.
Clean
Pressure or soft wash matched to the decking material.
Rinse
Washed down thoroughly, with care taken with runoff near the waterline.
Final check
Slip-safe finish confirmed, photos taken.
The same slip-safe, no-damage approach we use on timber, aluminium and composite decking.
Good to know
Matched to the material
Timber, aluminium and composite decking all need a different approach — we adjust pressure and method so growth comes off without roughening or damaging the surface. Timber in particular can be deceptive: pressure that looks fine on dry, weathered boards can lift fibres and accelerate greying if it's too aggressive, so we test on a small section first on anything we haven't cleaned before.
Runoff near the water is handled carefully throughout — we don't want cleaning chemical finding its way straight into the canal or river, so we work in sections and manage where water drains as we go.

FAQ
Common questions
Will pressure cleaning damage my timber jetty?
No — pressure and method are matched to the timber's condition to avoid fibre damage.
How often does a jetty need cleaning?
Waterline growth comes back fast in a marine environment — most owners clean every 6–12 months.
Do you clean pontoons and boat lifts too?
Yes — pontoons, jetties, boardwalks and boat lift/davit surfaces.
Can you access jetties by water?
Yes, where needed — let us know the access at your property when you enquire.
Do you clean the waterline band specifically?
Yes — it's usually the worst-affected area and the main slip hazard, since the biofilm there stays slippery even once the surface looks dry.
Can you do shared community pontoons for a body corporate?
Yes — see Commercial & Strata for scheduled maintenance of shared waterfront facilities.
